A sunbed gives off UV light, like the sun. UV tans the skin; too much can cause sunburn and long-term skin damage. That is why we time each session for your skin type and start fair skin with short sessions. If you have a skin condition or take medication, talk to your doctor first.
Your skin type and the device you choose decide the time. Fair skin starts with shorter sessions. At your first visit our team asks about your skin and sets the time with you.
The lamps give off controlled doses of UVA and UVB light. The skin responds by making melanin, and your skin darkens. Some of our devices also have separate lamps for the face and shoulders, cooling air and AquaCool mist.
Remove make-up, perfume and deodorant, and take out contact lenses and jewellery. Wear UV goggles during the session. Do not use creams or oils that are not made for sunbeds.
At least 48 hours. The pigment that gives your tan its colour needs that time to form. If your skin turns red, postpone your next session.
Usually a few weeks. The colour fades as the skin renews itself. Moisturiser and occasional short sessions help keep it.
People under 18, pregnant women, very fair people who burn without tanning, anyone on medication that makes the skin sensitive to light, and anyone with recent sunburn. If you have a heart condition, epilepsy, diabetes or claustrophobia, ask your doctor first.
